It seems every month or so I feel a need to bake chocolate chip cookies. For 28 years I made the same cookie recipe because I loved them…they are soooo good. Then with my new blog adventure I thought it was time to branch out a bit so I have been altering the recipe using different ingredients. This one has cream cheese in it. I thought it was weird at first, but wow! These really are so good! And of course…add a bit of thick salt on the top and OH MANNNNNN!
Salted Chocolate Chip Cookies
***these need to refrigerate before baking***
1/2 cup salted butter, softened
1/4 cup cream cheese, softened
3/4 cup dark brown sugar
1/4 cup sugar
2 tsp baking soda
2 tsp corn starch
2 1/4 cups flour
2 tsp vanilla
1/4 tsp salt
1 3/4 cup chocolate chips (I used a mixture of milk and semi sweet choc)
Flaked Sea Salt, like Maldon
Cream the butter and cream cheese with the sugars. Add the egg. Mix thoroughly. Now add the dry ingredients (except for the chips) and the vanilla. After everything is combined, add the chips. Allow to chill in frig for at least 2 hours.
After dough is chilled. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Scoop dough out into balls and flatten slightly. Add a teeny pinch of flaked sea salt. Bake for 8-9 minutes. Cookies will be soft.
What did I love about this recipe? I thought it was kind of cool that it used cream cheese. I never really thought about using cream cheese in a cookie recipe and it made for a super moist cookie.
