Broiled Grapefruit

Oh wow! This was a great surprise! I love grapefruit and let’s face it…it is that time of year when some of us need to get some of that grapefruit in us instead of perhaps…a scone! (cringe…). I have seen a lot of pics of the broiled grapefruit on Pintrest and so I thought I would give it a whirl myself. I am glad I did! Like roasting veggies, roasting fruit brings out the natural flavors and it is delicious. I used cinnamon this time but next time will try this with pumpkin pie spice because well, I just can’t get enough of pumpkin pie spice!

Let me know if you like it!

Wow! Roasting fruit brings it to a whole new level!

Broiled Grapefruit

grapefruit-I prefer ruby but use what you like

4 tsp dark brown sugar

1/4 tsp cinnamon

pinch sea salt

Move oven rack so that the grapefruit will be about 4-6 inches from the broiler. Preheat your oven so the broiler is nice and hot. Line a baking sheet with foil. Using a knife or a grapefruit knife, cut around each segment of fruit. (optional but makes it easier to eat later).

Mix the sugar and cinnamon and sea salt together then sprinkle on the grapefruit. Broil for 4-8 minutes until golden. I did mine for about 6 and next time I will go the full 8 to see if I like it that way too.

Yum.

What did I like about this recipe? I love how easy it was to throw together.

What didn’t I like about this recipe? Well, I really don’t like having to cut every little segment of the grapefruit but that is just silly, isn’t it?
